Early Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment (EPSDT) guidelines
To ensure and improve the health of the younger enrollees in our DC community, CareFirst CHPDC requires that all providers strictly adhere to HealthCheck guidelines. HealthCheck, is the DC community name for the Early Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment (EPSDT) guidelines that are used to inform and train health care providers in current preventative and diagnostic procedures.
How does this affect me as a provider?
As a CareFirst CHPDC health care provider, you must perform relevant HealthCheck services and screenings in the initial examination of new patients under the age of 21 in order to ensure that there are no special health care needs. HealthCheck services must also be provided in accordance with the DC Medicaid HealthCheck and Dental Periodicity Schedules. Click the button below to view the most updated Periodicity Schedules.
Periodicity SchedulesOn a CareFirst CHPDC enrollee’s first visit and ever quarter after the initial visit, parent(s), guardians, pregnant women, and child custodians must receive a written and verbal explanation of all services and examinations required the EPSDT guidelines.
