Alliance Enrollees
Urgent and Emergency Care

Urgent Care is medical care you may required within 24 hours. Your CareFirst CHPDC Alliance Enrollee Handbook has examples of when you would choose urgent care over an emergency.
If you need Urgent Care, call your primary care provider on the face of your ID Card. If the office is closed, call the Nurse Call Line at (855) 872-1852. The nurse will help you decide if you need to see a Doctor right away. You do not have to go to the Emergency Room or use an ambulance for this type of care.
Emergency care: Emergency care is only to be used if you have a serious injury or sickness. An Emergency Room visit is only authorized if your condition is a serious, sudden injury or illness that cannot wait. Please see examples of emergency conditions in your CareFirst CHPDC Alliance Enrollee Handbook.
If you think you have an Emergency, call 911 or go to the Emergency Room.
